This project illustrates a research on how nowadays political parties use voters personal data to promote their political messages.
The research served as a reference for the series of cross-sectional studies being
published by the German non-profit organization Tactical Technology Collective
(TTC) whose main objective is to analyze the fundamental aspects and trends in the
use and abuse of personal data and digital strategies in recent or upcoming elections
and referendums to be held in several countries in the world (Argentina, Brazil,
Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Italy, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Catalonia
(Spain), United Kingdom and the United States). TTC collaborated with groups of
reporters, lawyers, activists, data scientists and academics in each country for each
group to carry out a detailed investigation into the uses and abuses of personal data
in electoral campaigns in their country. Article 12 carried out this investigation in
Mexico.
